Buy new capacitors for all makes of Turboflush macerators. If your macerator motor will not start and is humming or buzzing, it most likely needs a new capacitor.
If the motor turns freely by hand and it is buzzing but will not start, the capacitor is probably faulty. If you are able to test the capacitor with a capacitance tester, check that it is within range. If not, try replacing the capacitor. If the motor still does not turn, check that the wiring is correct and that the screws are not tightened onto the insulation of the wire, as this is an easy mistake to make. If all the wiring is correct and your macerator still does not work, then the motor is probably faulty.
Beware!
Do not be tempted to buy a cheap capacitor for your Turboflush macerator, as many inferior capacitors do not work properly and often fail again very quickly. We have removed poor quality capacitors purchased from large department stores, as well as capacitors intended for fluorescent light fittings, from Turboflush macerators we have repaired. These are simply not suitable for a Turboflush macerator. Our capacitors are the correct specification, heavy duty, and built to last — you will not be disappointed.
The capacitor is located inside the electrical control box attached to the side of the motor. The Turboflush macerator motor requires a capacitor to start correctly. The capacitor can become damaged if the macerator has been blocked and the motor has been running continuously. Other causes of capacitor failure include general wear and tear and old age. After fitting a new capacitor, you will usually notice a significant improvement in your macerator pump.
